This may be the weirdest comic cover ever

Honestly, look at this madness:

What's going on here? Why is a man being killed on the cover?! Don't they want to build up some suspense for the inside? And why was he holding his gun backwards in the first place?

This thing just raises more questions than it answers. But maybe that was the point - you were supposed to look at it and be compelled to spend the 10¢ to find out what madness lay within.

Garfield gets extra weird

You're familiar with Garfield Minus Garfield, right? The site that takes the orange cat out of his own comic strip, leaving just his insane owner? Of course you are.

Are you also familiar with Lying Cat, the, uh, the cat who can tell when people are lying? Maybe not, but you might be.

Anyway, combine them both, and you get Garfield Minus Garfield Plus Lying Cat, which is just great!

Reminder: AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead" debuts tonight!

This seems super early - we're used to Walking Dead in October - but then again, it is a prequel, so maybe that makes a kind of sense. Anyway, if you just can't wait for 9:00 to get here, AMC has released the first three minutes of the pilot to whet your appetite:

R.I.P., Batman

No, not the comic story, that was "Batman R.I.P." - this is, sadly, a real person.

According to The Washington Post, Lenny B. Robinson, a man who had turned his car into the Batmobile and dressed up to visit sick kids in the hospital, was involved in an accident and killed last night.

"Robinson was having engine trouble and stopped 'partially in the fast lane,' according to a state police news release. He was checking the engine when the Batmobile was struck by a Toyota Camry."

It happened on Interstate 70 near Hagerstown, MD, which isn't too far from here.

Robinson gained internet notoriety a few years ago when he was pulled over by police for not having a properly visible license plate:

He spent his own money on the gifts he gave to children, and had just done so at a gas station shortly before the accident. You'll be missed, Lenny!

Fox vows to maintain its death-grip on the Fantastic Four

Despite the film's abysmal opening weekend, a spokesman for Fox told The New York Times that "We love these characters, and we will find ways to make use of them." So if you were hoping that Marvel/Disney would get the rights back in time for the FF to cameo in Infinity Gauntlet, well, sorry for the bad news. That's clearly Fox's way of saying "we refuse to let these rights lapse back to Marvel, because moneys."

The only hope now is that Fox does what Sony did, and works out a sharing deal where they "keep" the rights, but Marvel gets its fingers in the pie too. That way everybody wins!

Oh, and by the way: Josh Trank's claim that he had a good version we'll never get to see? It might be true. Collider shared some gossip about the production:

I've got a source, fairly close to the production of this film, who had told me that the movie that Josh Trank and Fox had agreed on making - included three really big action set pieces. That was all agreed upon, it was part of the flow of the movie. And a movie is like a puzzle, you have all the pieces in place. You start messing with pieces and suddenly the whole puzzle can look out of whack. And they had agreed upon this vision for a film. And days before production began, Fox came in and made him pull three main action sequences out of the film. I was also told, the ending of the film was not even Josh Trank's. At some point they hijacked the editing bay from him. To the point that the editing of the film was done without him.

So why is Fox so desperate to hold onto this license, again?

Japanese artist sculpts... bananas?

That's right, Keisuke Yamada uses toothpicks and a fruit spoon to shape the most delicate fruit in the world into recognizable characters. Here's a process shot of his Iron Man:

How about the guy who has everybody buzzing right now, Deadpool?

Did director Josh Trank just disown the Fantastic Four movie?

So the early buzz for the new Fantastic Four is... not even a little bit good. That's disappointing. But if fans are disappointed by the news, imagine how the director must feel!

Actually, you don't have to: he Tweeted (and subsequently deleted) this context-free message:

Granted, that could be about pretty much anything... but it's not. It's clearly about the movie. Yowch! Is it too late to "Alan Smithee" this thing?

If you were looking forward to watching Fantastic Four this weekend, well, remember that there's nothing stopping you from going to see Ant-Man again. And for a good FF story, come in and check out our trade paperback section. There's lots of great stuff there starring the Reed, Sue, Ben and Johnny that you know and love.

Deadpool gets a trailer... for his trailer.

What a very Deadpool thing to do.

(Unsurprisingly, there's inappropriate language in this. So if you're at work or in front of impressionable children, turn the volume way up before you watch it!)

And then he also muscled his way into the end of this Fantastic Four sneak peek:

His full trailer will debut tomorrow night on Conan. And will then be all over the internet moments later.
