This summer, DC Entertainment will publish all-new stories expanding on the acclaimed WATCHMEN universe. As highly anticipated as they are controversial, the seven inter-connected prequel mini-series will build on the foundation of the original WATCHMEN, the bestselling graphic novel of all time. BEFORE WATCHMEN will be the collective banner for all seven titles, from DC Comics.

There will also be a single issue, BEFORE WATCHMEN: EPILOGUE, featuring the work of various writers and artists, and a CRIMSON CORSAIR story by Wein and Higgins.

"The original series of WATCHMEN is the complete story that Alan Moore and I wanted to tell. However, I appreciate DC's reasons for this initiative and the wish of the artists and writers involved to pay tribute to our work. Saturday, February 11 is turning out to be a busy day at the store.

First off, we will be having a Star Wars sale all weekend to show our support for the 3D release of Star Wars - The Phantom Menace. All Star Wars items in the store will be 20% OFF. We will have a ton of new Star Wars 12" figures available beginning in February. Along with other Star Wars collectables.

Next up we have the Month 2 HeroClix Infinity Gauntlet event. We had a great turnout for the January event and hope to beat attendance with the February event.

Finally after the HeroClix event, probably at about 3PM we will be doing a special FREE DEMO of the new Star Trek miniature combat game - Star Trek Tactics. Come and learn how to play what I think is going to be a hugely popular game in 2012.

My quick thoughts:
I love OMAC and Blackhawks and really hate to see these go.
I hate the Batman Inc storyline, but I'm in love with Dial H for Hero.
Why not yank Firestorm and Savage Hawkman or Captain Atom and keep OMAC?

Important Announcement from Comic Store West

Brett Stoner, one of the geniuses behind the Comic Store West, is retiring from the store after 25+ years. We can't get rid of him so easy though, look for him on Sundays helping out.

What does that mean?
Well first off Joe and Brian will be taking over the ownership of the store. Many of you don't know Joe, he is the 'Father' of the Comic Store. He started it all at his store in Lancaster (www.comicstorepa.com). More of you know Brian (he is the only Comic Store West employee without glasses).

Scott, who everyone knows, will become the store manager.

Saturday, January 28 will be Brett's last full day at the store, we will be having a Say Goodbye to Brett Party and Sale. Details to come soon.

You, the customer should see no impact on this, we will still be providing the best service of any similar store in the area. If you have concerns or questions please drop Brian an email, his email address is at the top left of our website.

LEAGUE #1 – FAMINE

Cost = $10 to participate

League Dates:

January 8 – January 29

How does it work?

Players on the outer rings of the SupremacyLeague leaderboard earn “Fight” tokens which theyuse to challenge a player on the next innermost ring.

If the challengingplayer succeeds, they exchange places with their defeated opponent. Ifthe defending player succeeds, they earn the “Fight” token from the challenging player and can thenchallenge another player themselves!

Again, the goal is to fight one’s way tothe center spot of the leaderboard, and then oncethere, defend their position and earn three additional fight tokens.

** Minimum 400 point games

HeroClix Supremacy League #1 Starting Sunday

We received the kit for casual play HeroClix Supremacy League.
The League will run from Sunday, January 8, 2012 - Sunday, January 29.

How The League Works:
“Players on the outer rings of the Supremacy League leaderboard earn “Fight” tokens which they use to challenge a player on the next innermost ring,” he said. “If the challenging player succeeds, they exchange places with their defeated opponent. If the defending player succeeds, they earn the ‘Fight’ token from the challenging player and can then challenge another player themselves!”

Over 2800 cans of food were donated at today's WarMachine/Hordes Food Drive.

The most cans donated trophy goes to - Anthony Gibbs who donated 708 cans and received 958 total cheat cards for those cans.

Now we just need to figure out how to get these to the Food Bank.

So far we have 1200 cans of food ready for tomorrow's FoodMachine event. We hope to see many more cans tomorrow when the event starts. FoodMachine Update for Saturday

So there are a few updates concerning this weekend's Foodmachine Charity Tournament...

1. We will be using the current draft of the Steamroller 2012 Tournament rules. This format is not scheduled to become public until next year so this will probably be your first and only peek at the rules before they drop in January.

2. Rumors are flying about the number of cans people are bringing ( over 500 for one person!). It's not too late to hit up your family and friends for extra donations!

3. Scott has made TWO trophies for the event.

The second trophy is actually a playable model and will have rules for using him in the event. So whoever brings in the most cans will get THE CAN-IVEAN http://flic.kr/p/aHQLJk

We had crappy weather and no internet all weekend but we made the most of it. We collected lots of food for the York County Food Shelter. We played some great Zombie games. Special thanks to all that helped (Josh, Joe, Dave, and Sarah and of course anyone I missed).

Next year early plans are for a create your own horror themed covered dish and bring in to share and a special showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show (yes with audience participation).

Remember we will extend the costume contest through Monday in case you want to come in and enter.
